Cupcake Polish Bloodhound: Swatch and Review

Happy Saturday! Today, I have another stunning color from Cupcake Polish! This color is named Bloodhound, and it was a part of the Fall 2015 Modern Vampire Collection. Bloodhound is a boysenberry/burgundy linear holo. 

The formula on Bloodhound was similar to the other Cupcake Polishes that I own, and it was smooth and buttery. I reached full opacity in two coats. It dried a bit dull, but I applied topcoat, and it brought out the shine and the holo! Shown in my swatches are two coats plus top coat, under a daylight bulb (artificial lighting). 

 

I also decided to add some stamping to Bloodhound! For this, I used an image from Uber Chic plate 1-03, and stamped using my clear stamper from Born Pretty Store and M Polish To Have and To Holo. Everything is sealed in with topcoat. Here is the final result! 

 

I am still a growing fan of Cupcake Polish, and I cannot wait to grow my collection of these beauties! Bloodhound is available on the Cupcake Polish site for $13.00, and To Have and To Holo is available on the M Polish site (the maker is currently on maternity leave, but will return!).

HPB Presents: Spring Manis!

Hey there! Guess what? It's officially Spring! Well, according to the calendar...it snowed here yesterday. Get out of here, Old Man Winter! 

I have something a bit different today. I've recently joined Hobby Polish Bloggers, and we are posting about Spring manis at the moment! 

I tried something a bit different for this mani, and tested out two techniques that I haven't tried before- Double stamping and decal making. I recently won an Uber Chic Mat from Manna of Manna's Manis, and I wanted to play with it! 

For the base of this design, I started with two coats of Wet n' Wild's A Latte Love, a light brown from last year's spring collection. After that dried, I chose two designs from Cici & Sisi 12, from the pink set of plates: Some swirls, and some daisies! I stamped the swirls first, using Konad white polish, and stamped the daisies second, using Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Presto Pink. My stamping came out a bit patchy and wonky, but I'm still pretty happy with how it came out! After applying topcoat to the decals and having them dry, I peeled them from the mat and stuck them on my nails, on top of a layer of tacky basecoat. I trimmed them and cleaned up the edges, applied another layer of topcoat, and was left with this final result! 

The white isn't too apparent, but I do like the subtlety to it. I can't wait to practice more with double stamping and decal making!

Manicure Monday: Nail Art Using China Glaze Electric Nights Collection and Uber Chic Stamping Plates

Happy Manicure Monday! I have some nail art for you today! I had created this mani back in the summer, and decided that I wanted to re-create it. Here are the materials that I had to gather, before I began: 

 

In order to begin this mani, I started with two coats of a plain white creme polish. My white of choice was Sally Hansen Insta-Dri 'Tag, Ur It!' This was released in Summer 2015, and it is one of my favorite whites-- It is opaque in two coats, and it dries quickly! 

After applying two coats of white, I topped it with one coat of quick-dry top coat, and let it dry for about 15 minutes. Then, I did a gradient with three colors from the China Glaze Summer 2015 Electric Nights Collection: Red-y to Rave, Home Sweet House Music, and Daisy Know My Name?. The Electric Nights collection is one of my favorites from China Glaze, and each color is bright, neon, and gorgeous. I only needed two passes of the cosmetic sponge over each nail for my desired opacity for this gradient! After clean up, I sealed and smoothed the gradient with another layer of top coat.

Next, I chose an image from an Uber Chic stamping plate, and stamped it with my favorite double-sided stamper from Bundle Monster. The plate that I chose was plate 1-01; I stamped using black Konad polish. I then sealed in the design with a final layer of glossy top coat. Here is the finished product!

And a macro! 

I absolutely love the contrast between the neons and the black stamping, and am so happy with how these came out!
