Polish Con Fall 2016: Fall in Love With Indies

Polish Con Fall 2016: Fall in Love With Indies

What is this? Two posts in one night? Well, I just HAVE to tell you about my experience at Polish Con! I had the amazing opportunity to help out at and attend the inaugural Polish Con (Polish Convention) in Chicago last week, and I had the time of my life! There were loads of indie nail polish vendors, tutorial tables, and lots and lots of people to meet. And of course, INSANE amounts of polish to purchase (which, let's be honest, I went a little crazy; I'll show my haul at the end of this post)! By no means did the pictures that I take represent the entire event; they are just the ones that I had the time to take! Let's take a look!

My first stop, of course, was the Ever After Polish table! This is Rachel and her husband, Ian. Check out the event exclusives and her newest collection, based off of the musical Wicked!

Next to Rachel Was Miranda's portion of the table, sporting her bath/body and hand care products. I wasn't able to nab a picture of her, but you can spot her head ducking down! I picked up a Maple Bacon lip balm from her table, a new flavor that she is offering, and it smells DIVINE! It was great to meet Rachel and Miranda in person!

Next, I went to the Cupcake Polish table! Sara's table was so stinking adorable; she even had shopping baskets, so that you didn't have to juggle the bottles while shopping. It was amazing to finally meet Sara in person as well!

The event limited edition colors were in cute little bowls on the tables!

And she had some adorable cupcake bath bombs as well!

Next was the DIFFERENT dimension table! I wasn't able to get a picture of the table (it was PACKED by the time I got to it!), but I was able to get a picture with Missi! She is too sweet!

I also visited the Darling Diva Polish table, and I think that I fell even more in love with Carrie; she. Is. AWESOME. Her polishes are bomb, and she is even more so! She even had a raffle, where the prize was a hot pink glittery travel cup with the Darling Diva logo, as well as an LE polish.

Great Lakes Lacquer was also at the event, as Mariah was one of the main organizers of the event (she worked alongside Rachel and Miranda to plan the entire event). She had some stunning event exclusives/limited editions, as well as the other beautiful polishes that she brought along! I was smitten when I was able to meet Mariah!

The event LEs-- they cleared out quickly!

I also had the pleasure of meeting Stefanie from Supernatural Lacquer (as well as her mother)! I was able to try her acetone additive at the event, and I am officially a convert! She has a bunch of new scents, and they are so moisturizing!

Chelsea of Pretty & Polished also attended the event! She debuted some of her new Fall polishes, as well as some polishes that she created for the event.

Again, these were not all of the vendors who were in attendance, just the ones that I was able to nab pictures of!

In addition to the vendors, there were also tutorial tables. I had the pleasure of hosting a tutorial table, at which I spoke about nail care, filing, and manicure clean-up. I am so happy that I was given the opportunity to speak about this topic, and it was a pleasure to meet with everyone who signed up for the tutorials. Here is a shot of my table; look at all of the Ever After nail files!

Oh yeah, you wanted to see my haul, right!? Some may say that I went a little overboard, but...NAHH! I can't wait to play with and blog about all of these pretties!

At the end of the convention, it was announced that it will be held in Chicago every Fall, and that the location for the Spring will rotate; this coming Spring, in 2017, the Con will be held in New York! This is even closer to me, so I will for sure be attending!

Cupcake Polish Metamorphosis: Swatch and Review

Cupcake Polish Metamorphosis: Swatch and Review

*Purchased by Me*

Happy Sunday to you! Tonight, I am going to be showing you a stunner from Cupcake Polish (well, all of Sara's creations are stunners, in my opinion!). This is Metamorphosis!

Cupcake Polish Metamorphosis is a part of the Spring 2016 Butterfly collection, and it can be described as a denim blue linear holographic. In some lights it looks blue, and in others, indigo/purple. Shown in my swatches are two coats for full opacity, plus one layer of glossy top coat, under a daylight bulb. The formula, as usual, was smooth as butter, and it dried quickly. Metamorphosis did dry down a bit dull, but a layer of glossy top coat shined it right up and brought out the beautiful linear holo!

You can pick up Cupcake Polish Metamorphosis (and I definitely recommend that you do!) right here; the cost is $13.00 for a full-size 15 mL bottle.

The Holo Hookup Box (August 2016): Swatch and Review

The Holo Hookup Box (August 2016): Swatch and Review

*Purchased by Me*

Helloooo!! Today, I am sharing my swatch and review of the August 2016 Holo Hookup Box! This is a collaboration box between DIFFERENT dimension, Glisten & Glow, and Cupcake Polish; each box also has a featured maker each time. August's guest maker was Nvr Enuff. The Holo Hookup Box is released monthly.

There is usually a different theme each month, and August's was called "A Day in the Garden;" each brand's polish was inspired by a flower! Let's take a look at the box, shall we??

Glisten & Glow Fern Gully

Color/Finish: A forest green linear holographic with blue and gold shimmer.
Formula/Application: Glisten & Glow Fern Gully was smooth and easy to apply. It was almost opaque in one coat, but I used two for good measure. I had this on, with base coat, for about 15-20 minutes, and did not experience any staining. Shown is with glossy top coat, but it dried glossy on its own!
Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥ 5 hearts! This is a glorious shade of green, and the holo flame on it is absolutely insane!
Availability: Glisten & Glow Fern Gully was a part of the August Holo Hookup Box, which is no longer currently available.

Cupcake Polish Blue Orchid

Color/Finish: A cyan/teal blue linear holo with pink and blue shimmer.
Formula/Application: The formula on Cupcake Polish Blue Orchid holds true to all of the other Cupcake Polishes that I own, as it was smooth and easy to apply. It dried quickly and glossy, and was fully opaque in two coats. Shown is with one layer of glossy top coat!
Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥ 5 hearts! You all know my love for Cupcake Polish already, and Blue Orchid holds up to the same standards!
Availability: Cupcake Polish Blue Orchid was a part of the August Holo Hookup Box, which is no longer currently available.

Nvr Enuff Odessa Black

Color/Finish: A blackened eggplant purple linear holo with flakies and red shimmer.
Formula/Application: Nvr Enuff Odessa Black was smooth and easy to apply, and applied evenly. The first coat was a bit thin and jelly-like, but it built up to full opacity in two easy coats. It dried quickly and glossy! Shown is with one layer of glossy top coat.
Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥ 5 hearts! My favorite color is purple, and I am a sucker for vampy shades. Paired with the brush that I love from Nvr Enuff, and this great formula, I am in love! I definitely need to try this color as a base for some stamping!
Availability: Nvr Enuff Odessa Black was a part of the August Holo Hookup Box, which is no longer currently available.

DIFFERENT dimension Montego Red

Color/Finish: A darkened red linear holo with added shimmer and purple microglitter.
Formula/Application: DIFFERENT dimension Montego Red was SO CLOSE to being a one-coater! I typically experience that with holo/microglitter combo polishes. However, I used two coats for full opacity. It dried very quickly and smoothly; shown is with one layer of glossy top coat!
Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥ 5 hearts! This shade of red is absolutely AMAZING, plus the added microglitter? Swoon! Definitely one of the standouts of the box for me! I had to keep this one on after I finished swatching all four colors, as it stuck in my mind!
Availability: DIFFERENT dimension Montego Red was a part of the August Holo Hookup Box, which is no longer currently available.

So, what do you think? This is my first purchase of the Holo Hookup Box, but I definitely plan on purchasing more in the future! The box is typically $40.00 plus shipping, available internationally, and all of the polishes are full-sized. You can check out and follow their social media (linked below) for sneak peeks of the next box!

Manicure Monday with Cupcake Polish and Water Decals

Manicure Monday with Cupcake Polish and Water Decals

*Purchased by Me*

Welcome back to Monday! I have an ACTUAL Mani Monday post for you today! For these, I started out with Cupcake Polish Little Butterfly, then chose some coordinating water decals.

Collection: Spring 2016 Butterfly Collection
Color/Finish: Medium, vibrant green with an intense linear holo.
Formula/Application: Little Butterfly applied so, so smoothly and evenly! Dry time was quick, about 2 minutes between coats. It dried down semi-glossy; shown in my pictures are two coats plus top coat, under a daylight bulb.
Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥ 5 hearts! This is one of my new favorite greens; the shade and the intense holo are absolutely divine!
Availability: Cupcake Polish Little Butterfly is available on Cupcake Polish's site for $13.00 for a 15 mL bottle; you can find the listing for it right here

I applied Little Butterfly to my pinky and ring fingers, as well as my thumbs. For my middle and index fingers, I applied two coats of Sally Hansen Tag, Ur It!, then applied the water decals that I chose. Here are the decals:

And my final mani! Everything is sealed in with glossy top coat.

This combo feels so bright and happy!

Cupcake Polish Swatch Spam!

Cupcake Polish Swatch Spam!

*Purchased by Me*

Helloooo! I have some swatch spam for you today! And, all of these colors are from Cupcake Polish! I've had all of these swatched for a while, and haven't gotten around to writing separate posts for them, so I figured that I would compile them all into one post. Let's get to them!

Cupcake Polish Cheers to 3 Years!

Collection: Limited Edition 3-year anniversary polish
Color/Finish: Light pink linear holo with metallic silver flakies.
Formula/Application: Cheers to 3 Years! had a perfect formula! I was almost able to get it opaque in one thick coat, but opted for two, to be safe. Shown are two coats plus glossy top coat.
Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥ 5 hearts! This is one of my new favorite pinks, and it is so dainty and feminine looking!
Availability: Cupcake Polish Cheers to 3 Years! was a limited polish available only during the month of July.

Cupcake Polish Dallas

Collection: American Beauty Collection
Color/Finish: Dallas is a red-orange (more on the red side) base with an intense linear holo.
Formula/Application: Dallas applied super smooth, and was fully opaque in two coats! Shown is with glossy top coat, under a daylight bulb.
Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥ 5 hearts! The holo on Dallas is super intense, and the formula is perfect! It had a quick dry time, and barely any clean-up was needed; perfect for a quick mani!
Availability: Cupcake Polish Dallas is no longer available in her shop.

Cupcake Polish Love Others

Collection: April 2016 Harlow ONE Series: Cupcake Polish One Love Duo
Color/Finish: Love Others is a peach linear holographic.
Formula/Application: Love Others was thin on the first coat, but built up very nicely! I was able to get it opaque in two smooth, easy coats; shown is with glossy top coat, under a daylight bulb.
Rating: ♥♥♥♥ 4 hearts! While this may not be the most flattering color for my skin tone (it blended in with my skin a bit, in person), it is an absolutely stunning polish! The formula was on par with all of the other Cupcake Polishes that I own, and it would make a great base for some stamping, or any other type of nail art!
Availability: Cupcake Polish Love Others is no longer available for purchase.

Cupcake Polish Maria

Collection: Cupcake Polish Queen Collection
Color/Finish: Maria is a blue linear holo with green shimmer.
Formula/Application: Maria was another polish that was almost opaque in one coat! However, as usual, I did two for good measure. Shown is with glossy top coat, under a daylight bulb!
Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥ 5 hearts! This shade of blue is absolutely stunning, and the shimmer adds that little extra oomph that I love so much!
Availability: Cupcake Polish Maria is no longer available in the shop.

Cupcake Polish Unrequited Love

Collection: Color4Nails Exclusive
Color/Finish: Unrequited Love is a burgundy linear holo with berry shimmer and silver flakes.
Formula/Application: Unrequited Love was almost opaque in one coat, but I used two for full opacity. It dried down quickly and smoothly, and did not stain! Shown are two coats plus glossy top coat, under a daylight bulb.
Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥ 5 hearts! I am a sucker for vampy colors, and this dark burgundy is glorious, especially with those silver flakes!
Availability: Cupcake Polish Unrequited Love is available from Color4Nails for $14.00, but it is currently out of stock.

Phew, thanks for sticking with me through the swatch spam!
