Carpe Noctem Cosmetics Fear: Swatch and Review

Carpe Noctem Cosmetics Fear: Swatch and Review

*Purchased by Me*

Good morning! I hope that you had an amazing holiday, whatever you celebrate! Mine was pretty relaxed; I'm still kind of floating on Cloud Nine that I am officially finished my Master's Program!!!

Today, I am sharing with you a color from Carpe Noctem Cosmetics. This color is named Fear, and it was a part of the June 2016 My Favourite Things Box, curated by Nail Whisperer. The theme for the June 2016 box was the movie Inside Out, and while I didn't purchase the entire box, I did buy Fear off of someone. Let's take a look at this beauty!

Fear is a medium purple, between an orchid and eggplant, with loads of holo sparkle and blue shimmer. The formula was on par with other CNCs that I have tried, and it applied smoothly and evenly. I was able to get Fear opaque in three thin coats, and it dried to a satin finish; my pictures show it with one layer of glossy top coat, under artificial daylight lighting.

I always love the complexity of Emily's polishes, and this baby is no exception!

I have not seen any updates regarding a new, current release from My Favourite Things, so I am unsure if these boxes are still continuing. I will update this post if any news arrives, though! In the meantime, be please be sure to keep up with Carpe Noctem Cosmetics on social media!

Animal Print Nails! Featuring Carpe Noctem Cosmetics

Animal Print Nails! Featuring Carpe Noctem Cosmetics

*Purchased by Me*

Happy Friday! Tonight, I'm going to be showing you a mani that I did with a color from Carpe Noctem Cosmetics that I've had in my to-try pile for a bit.

One of the colors that I've picked up recently from Carpe Noctem is another color from Emily's Inspiration Collection, in which each polish was inspired by a person in the nail polish community who is very important to her. This polish is named Classy As Fuck, and it was inspired by An of The Polished Hippy. Now, I have had the pleasure of interacting with An as well, and I can attest to her classiness and kindness; I 100% respect and value her as a fellow member of the nail community, and always look to her for advice! Please, please, please be sure to go check out her blog!

Classy As Fuck is described on Emily's site as a metallic red linear holo with platinum and multichrome flakies. I was able to get it fully opaque in two easy coats, which applied smoothly and dried quickly and shiny!

For my mani, I applied Classy As Fuck on my thumbs, ring fingers, and pinkies. Then, I applied two coats of Sally Hansen's Tag, Ur It! on my index and middle fingers. Once that was dry, I stamped a zebra print image (in black) on top of the white base; for this, I used a plate that I had picked up in an "As Seen on TV" kit, long, long ago (it was actually the beginning of my ventures into stamping!). Once everything dried, I sealed it all in with another layer of topcoat. Here is the final result!

If you are interested in picking up a bottle of Classy As Fuck, you can find the listing for it on Emily's site, right here! The cost is $12.00 for a 15 mL full size bottle, or $6.00 for a 6 mL mini bottle.

Carpe Noctem Cosmetics Holo-Maniacs Custom #4 (Faeries Fly at Twilight): Swatch and Review

Carpe Noctem Cosmetics Holo-Maniacs Custom #4 (Faeries Fly at Twilight): Swatch and Review

*Sent by maker for swatch and review*

Hey, hey! Today, I want to show you another custom that was created for my group, Holo-Maniacs! This was the second custom that was created for the month of July. The second maker for this month is the amazing Emily from Carpe Noctem Cosmetics, and her creation is absolutely gorgeous! Here is the inspiration picture that was chosen for the custom (PURPLE!!!!)

Aaaand...the polish!

Collection: July 2016 Holo-Maniacs Customs
Color/Finish: Holo-Maniacs Custom #4 (Faeries Fly at Twilight) is a deep purple linear holo with larger scattered holo mictoglitters.
Formula/Application: This custom had an absolutely flawless formula, just like the other CNC polishes that I currently own! I was able to get it opaque in two easy coats. Dry time between coats was about 1 minute, and it dried glossy. Shown in my pictures are two coats plus top coat, under a daylight bulb.
Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥ 5 hearts! This purple is absolutely flawless, and the formula is on point! I am always in awe of how indie makers can look at an inspiration picture and create something that looks just like it!
Availability: Carpe Noctem Cosmetics Holo-Maniacs Custom #4 (Faeries Fly at Twilight) is currently available! It will be on pre-sale until July 31st, and will ship no sooner than one week after the pre-sale ends. Please be sure to join Holo-Maniacs to get all of the purchasing information, and also to have access to an exclusive discount code that Emily is offering to the group! Thank you again to Emily for being one of the guest makers for the month!

Carpe Noctem Cosmetics Swatch Spam!

Carpe Noctem Cosmetics Swatch Spam!

*Purchased by me*
*Sent by Maker*

Welcome to yet another Friday! I hope that you had a wonderful week! It's officially June, which means that my birthday is exactly one month from tomorrow; yayyy, 24!!

Today, I have some swatch spam to share with you! These polishes are all from Carpe Noctem Cosmetics, and they are all so beautiful that I didn't want to wait to share each one in a separate post! Two of these polishes I purchased on my own, and two were sent to me by the amazingly sweet Emily. I'll let you know which ones are which! You ready for lots of pictures? Sure you are! Here we goooo!!

Carpe Noctem Cosmetics Who Put the Sticks Up Their Butts?

Who Put the Sticks Up Their Butts? is one of the polishes that I purchased, and I'm not entirely sure if I bought it for the color, the name, or for a combination of both! This is a light green base with shifty flakies and holo. It was a part of the Inspiration Collection, in which each polish was inspired by a member of the nail community, with whom Emily is close! This polish in particular was inspired by a lovely woman named Cate.

Who Put the Sticks Up Their Butts? was smooth and easy to apply; the first coat was a bit thin (which is common with crelly finishes), but it was easily buildable, and full opacity was reached in three thin coats. As with my other polishes from CNC, dry time was about 1-2 minutes, and it dried incredibly shiny. Shown in my pictures are three coats plus one layer of glossy top coat, taken under a daylight bulb.

Carpe Noctem Cosmetics Debogram

This next polish is one of the ones that Emily was kind enough to gift to me, and it is named Debogram. Debogram is a shifty, glittery, light purple holographic polish, with extra glitters dispersed throughout. It originally began as a custom polish created by Nichole of Bedlam Beauty, and was then released for sale to the public.

The formula on Debogram was a bit thin, but was easily buildable. I used four coats to reach my desired opacity, but it did not feel like a chore at all; dry time was quick, so it was nice and easy to work with. Debogram dried extremely shiny, but I added glossy top coat to my swatch, which was taken under a daylight bulb!

Carpe Noctem Cosmetics Midnight Mayhem

The third color that I have to share to you is another that Emily gifted to me, and it is named Midnight Mayhem. Midnight Mayhem is an inky purple with larger holographic glitters, and it is BEAUTIFUL (and yes, I am a #PurplePolishFreak !)

As stated with the previous colors, the formula on Midnight Mayhem was smooth and easy to apply and control. While it was pretty opaque in two coats, I opted for three, as I like for there to be no visible nail line when I polish. Dry time was wonderful, about 1-2 minutes, and it dried glossy. Shown in my pictures are three coats plus one layer of glossy top coat, under a daylight bulb.

Carpe Noctem Cosmetics Indi-Go Get Your Birthday On!

The fourth and final color that I have to share with you (which is one of the colors that I purchased on my own) is a polish that Emily created in celebration of her birthday, and it is named Indi-Go Get Your Birthday On! This is a group custom that was created for the Facebook fan group, and it is an indigo with a strong holo; it was actually inspired by the color of Emily's hair!

Indi-Go Get Your Birthday On! was super smooth and opaque, and was SO CLOSE to being a one-coater! As stated above, though, I like to ensure that my swatches are fully opaque; therefore, I used two coats here. Dry time was about 1-2 minutes, and it dried glossy; however, my swatch is shown with glossy top coat, under a daylight bulb. I did not have any staining problems with this pigmented indigo, and I had it on for about one hour while swatching.

If you've been around here for a bit, you know that I am an ever-growing fan of Carpe Noctem Cosmetics! I appreciate Emily's gifts, more than she will ever know! I hope that you were able to find a color from these four that you like!

As with all of Emily's polishes, these colors are available in 6 mL, 12 mL, and 15 mL sizes, with prices ranging from $5.00 to $12.00, depending on the size and the specific polish.

Carpe Noctem Cosmetics Fireside Songs: Swatch and Review

Carpe Noctem Cosmetics Fireside Songs: Swatch and Review

*Purchased by Me*

Happy humpday!! I have another beauty from Carpe Noctem Cosmetics to share with you today! This is named Fireside Songs. It was originally part of a duo that was created between CNC and another indie brand named Octopus Party Nail Lacquer, and it is now available for purchase by itself! Fireside Songs is a purple/plum/red shifter with linear holo, shimmer, and some flakes; it is beautifully complex, just like all of Emily's polishes!

The formula on Fireside Songs remained true to all of the other Carpe Noctems that I have used until now-- It was smooth and buttery, and was fully opaque in two coats. Dry time was quick, under two minutes, and it dried quickly. Shown are two coats plus top coat, under a daylight bulb.

Fireside Songs is currently available in Emily's shop, but it is on last call/in the Discontinued section. So, if you want to pick it up, I definitely recommend doing so, sooner than later! As with all of her polishes, Fireside Songs is available in a mini (6 ML, $6), a medium (12 ML, $10), or a large (15 ML, $12).

Carpe Noctem Cosmetics Beyond the Clouds: Swatch and Review

*Purchased by Me*

Helloooo, there! Today, I'm going to share yet another color from Carpe Noctem Cosmetics with you! This neutral beauty is named Beyond the Clouds.

Beyond the Clouds is a neutral/taupe crelly base, packed with pinky-nude shimmer, holographic sparkle, and lots and lots of flakies! This was created by Emily in order to celebrate her two-year shop anniversary.

With the colors that I own from Emily so far, I have found that they are all complex and beautiful: There are multiple elements that add to the beauty, such as flakies, holo, and shimmer. I am so amazed at how well everything meshes together!

I was able to get Beyond the Clouds opaque in three thin coats. Like the other CNCs that I own, this dried super glossy by itself; however, I will be showing it to you with one layer of topcoat.

If you are interested in picking up this beauty, it is currently available in Emily's shop, right here! Beyond the Clouds is available in a mini (6 ML, $5), a medium (12 ML, $8), or a large (15 ML, $11).

Carpe Noctem Cosmetics [Insert Emerald Pun Here]: Swatch and Review

*Purchased by Me*

Happy Friday to you! Today I have another polish from one of my new growing favorite indie brands: Carpe Noctem Cosmetics!

The color that I have today is called [Insert Emerald Pun Here]. I picked this up from a destash, but it is still currently available in Emily's shop!

[Insert Emerald Pun Here] is a stunning, vibrant emerald green. The first coat was a bit thin, but it was easily buildable. I was able to reach full opacity with three coats, with a dry time of about 3 minutes between coats, and 10 minutes for full dry time, after applying quick-dry top coat. Shown are three coats plus glossy topcoat, under a daylight lamp!

This green is absolutely beautiful, and the holo flame is gorgeous! The sun wasn't even out today, and it was still glaring when I went outside :D

[Insert Emerald Pun Here] is currently available in Carpe Noctem's shop, and it is available in either a mini ($4), a medium ($5.50), or large/regular sized ($7.50) bottle.

Are there any indie brands that are beginning to become favorites for you? Let me know below; come on, enable me!
